Thanks. They're mounted on pennies (a two pence piece for the MG42), then covered with PVA and sand before being painted. When I get time I'll add some static grass as well.
Thanks- recently rediscovered all my 1:72 minis from when I was a kid. Looking forward to having a bash at painting the infantry (once they have been based- cheers for the tip). Any chance you can recommend a wash other than the OOP Devlan mud?

DeleteGW have replaced it with, I think, Agrax Earthshade, but I've not tried that yet.
