US Airborne Test

Just a quickie this morning.  Tried out two different paint schemes for US Airborne last night using the Italeri Anti Tank Teams Set.  One in the late war olive drab uniform, which was used in Normandy is more suitable for Arnhem etc, one in the early war.  Hoping I've got the early war colour near enough (a 50/50 mix of Green Ochre, US Field Drab and a touch of GW Gretchin Green)

Thoughts, comments and criticism (constructive!) always welcome.

  1. They are both done excellent, but I would recommend painting them all in late war, since the rest of your collection (Germans etc.) are for the North West European campaign.

    1. That's a good point. The '42 uniform was more common for D Day, but went after that. Maybe I'll do some of both ;-)

  2. An amazingly good painting work indeed. I will agree with FriendlyFore unless of course you plan to do a Normandy project. But even in that case I bet you that nobody will notice the difference in the gaming table

    1. Thanks. I only have a small handful of US airborne at the moment, but I suppose I'll have to make my mind up if I get more!

I suppose it wouldn't notice normally, but unfortunately most of my gaming these days is solo, so my fiercest critic is always at the table ;-)

  3. I'd go for the Olive Drab Alan. I think they are more suitable for you. The other variant, stands out on the table, but I reckon that you are trying to be as close as possible to historical accuracy. Excellent job for both though! :)

  4. They both look excellent Alan.
I'm not sure which I'd choose as a paint scheme, as long as they have that "Band of Brothers" look to them ;)

  5. Thanks. You might not be surprised to know I did these after re-watching the Band of Brothers 'Carentan' episode.
